Luka Pilic × the n8n podcast

The missing management platform for n8n

Luka Pilic scaled n8n from a two-hour side project to 700 production workflows inside StepStone, a 3,000-person enterprise. Along the way he built the platform that made it manageable. Now it's open source.

n8n Library is a self-hosted management layer that sits alongside your n8n instance: template library, credential provisioning, prompt versioning, monitoring, service desk, knowledge base and an AI assistant.

  • Battle-tested against 700 production workflows
  • Self-hosted and open source, your data stays yours

What's inside

Everything n8n doesn't ship out of the box

Once you pass a handful of workflows, the hard problems stop being node configuration and start being management: who can build, what already exists, and what changed. n8n Library covers that layer.

01

Template library and credentials

A searchable library of proven workflow templates, plus credential provisioning so new builders get access on day one instead of waiting weeks on IT tickets. Removing credential friction is how adoption spread at StepStone.

02

Prompt versioning and diff viewer

Prompts are code, so they get version control. Every prompt change is tracked with a diff viewer, so when an AI workflow starts behaving differently you can see exactly what changed and roll it back.

03

Monitoring and service desk

Know what's running, what failed and who needs help. A built-in service desk gives non-technical builders somewhere to go, and auto-generated documentation keeps every workflow explained.

The AI assistant → feasibility before building

Modeled on the Autobot that Luka's team runs internally: describe the automation you want and the assistant scores its feasibility, points you at existing templates and the knowledge base, and tells you what to build before anyone writes a single node. The last mile of workflow building stays human, on purpose.

Built at scale, shared open source

This isn't a demo project. It's the management layer that grew inside one of Europe's largest job platforms as n8n spread from one marketing team to the whole company. Every feature exists because something broke without it.

  • 700 production workflows and counting at StepStone
  • Grew from one builder to company-wide, no top-down mandate
  • One automation cut a 60-mapping-a-day manual job to 20 seconds
  • Self-hosted, so it fits regulated and enterprise environments

Skip the two years of trial and error

Luka already hit the walls: the credential bottleneck, the prompt that silently changed, the workflow nobody documented. The platform that fixes them is free and open source. Grab it.
